Apple iPhone 14: New Leak Claims A Surprise iPhone To Land In Days
Will a new yellow iPhone 14, like this iPhone 11, be announced imminently?
Apple launched its iPhone 14 series last September, but there may be a brand-new addition to the range in a matter of days. If the rumors are true, it’s likely that there will be a new color added for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. And the color? Yellow.
While mid-season additions to the iPhone range are nothing new, Apple has kept this iPhone under exceptionally tight wraps, so the latest rumors have surprised many.
A report in a Weibo post that was picked up by the Japanese blog Mac Otakara has suggested that next week could see the debut of the new yellow iPhones.
So, how likely is this rumor to be true? Well, it’s hard to know if the Weibo account has any kind of track record, so that’s not a great start.
On the other hand, the timing is pretty believable. Last year, on March 8, Apple announced a new green version of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, plus alpine green for iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. And MacRumors is reporting that it has been informed of a product briefing by Apple on Tuesday.
That makes me think that a Spring color is coming, so, can Spring be far behind? Apple often has other new-color updates for Spring, such as luscious new Watch bands, for instance. Will these feature at the same time? Perhaps there’ll be a sunshine yellow Watch band to go with the phone. Not to mention new, Spring-appropriate phone cases.
And will there be a yellow Apple iPhone 14 Pro? My guess is no. The Pro phones tend to have more muted colors, and who wants a muted yellow? The joy of yellow is its bright, gaudy brilliance. And yellow is perhaps a bit close to the gold that’s currently in the iPhone 14 Pro collection of colors.
Yellow is, on the other hand, a staple of the iPhone range. Along with iPhone 5c and iPhone XR, there was a yellow iPhone 11. Oh, and although Apple has never launched a yellow iPhone in the Spring before, it’s the quintessential color for the season, surely, as dark days give way to the delights of more sunshine.
Truth is, there’s not much to go on here, though the timing seems overwhelmingly credible.
Apple’s mid-season color addition has become something of a tradition. Before last year’s green and alpine green, a purple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini were added in 2021—though a touch later, in April. Why was it late? Well, the iPhone 12 series was announced late as well, in October 2021, thanks to Covid disruption.
So, the prospect of a new iPhone being announced next Tuesday is intriguing. We may not know much now, but the good news is there’s not long to wait.
