Collaborators from Ukraine can be exchanged for 300 Russian partisans imprisoned by Putin

Representatives of Russian volunteer formations, including the "Freedom of Russia" Legion, which fights in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, today discussed the possibility of exchanging Russian partisans and political prisoners who opposed the war with representatives of the "I Want to Live" state capture project with Ukraine and persecuted by the Putin regime, Ukrainian collaborators. The deputy commander of the "Freedom of Russia" Legion for military-civilian cooperation with the call sign "Caesar" handed over a list of 300 surnames to the "I want to live" project. The former member of the State Duma of Russia, who voted against the annexation of Crimea and received Ukrainian citizenship, Ilya Ponomaryov, after meeting with representatives of the "I want to live" project, told a UNIAN correspondent that the list is not "good Russians", but those who led in Russia anti-war actions against Putin's regime, which started the war with Ukraine. He emphasized that the list includes, in particular, 166 people who protested with weapons in Russia, they were related to the partisan movement, who are accused of terrorism, in cooperation with the Legion "Freedom of Russia". According to him, the list includes many people who in Russia carried out attacks on infrastructure facilities, set fire to relay cabinets on railways, carried out armed attacks on factories that were related to military production and the supply of weapons to the Russian army in order to stop war with Ukraine. "For the perception of Ukrainian society, I want to say that we are not talking about “good Russians,'' but about people who risked their lives in order to put up real resistance, who killed Russian soldiers, thus saving many Ukrainian lives. These people are part of our armed resistance and it will not be fair to deny them protection simply because they have a Russian passport. Russians from the Legion "Freedom of Russia" are fighting at the front for Ukraine, and these people were fighting in the rear," he emphasized Ponomaryov. According to him, after the exchange, these Russians will be able to continue the fight against Putin's regime in Ukraine or will be able to go to third countries. Ponomaryov notes that there are currently thousands of collaborators in prisons in Ukraine and their maintenance "falls" on the Ukrainian budget. He added that such an exchange would give the Russians an understanding that they should fight and not be afraid of 25-year prison terms, as there would be an opportunity to be released.

Russian oppositionists in Ukraine

As you know, in 2014, Ilya Ponomaryev was the only deputy to vote in the State Duma of Russia against the annexation of Crimea. He was prematurely deprived of the powers of a deputy. In 2019, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, granted Ukrainian citizenship to Russian opposition leader Ilya Ponomarev, he lives in Ukraine. In November 2022, Poland hosted the first congress of people's deputies of Russia, who spoke out against the Putin regime and declared that in the future they would form a government of national unity in Russia. There were, in particular, ex-deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Gennadiy Gudkov, Ilya Ponomaryov, and Mark Feigin.
