The Ministry of Defense spent millions on low-quality food kits for the military

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine purchased one million sets of food for the military, which turned out to be of low quality. The Ministry of Defense concluded an additional agreement with a commercial firm in the amount of 430 million hryvnias. Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Office of the Prosecutor General proved in court the illegality of the agreement on the purchase of food kits for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was concluded by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with a commercial firm. This agreement concerned one million meal kits worth 430 million hryvnias, the Prosecutor General's Office reported. It is noted that an additional agreement to the contract provided for the purchase of food kits that do not meet the nutritional standards for the military, which confirmed the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine accepted low-quality products. The court confirmed that the signing of this document was in violation of the current legislation. Recently, the Ministry of Defense has been involved in several scandals due to questionable purchases. For example, during August, it became clear that the Ministry concluded a contract with a Turkish company for the supply of jackets at a price of $29, but winter jackets at a price of $86 were noted in the documents. The head of the department, Oleksiy Reznikov, proposed the version that the prices in the Turkish documents may have been changed to avoid paying taxes in Turkey.
