Ukrainians who went abroad with fake documents can be extradited, Arahamiya

Ukrainian individuals who have purchased fraudulent certificates of unfitness will face accountability for their actions, according to recent statements made by David Arakhamia, the head of the “Servant of the People” faction and a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence. Arakhamia highlighted that people paid substantial amounts of money to obtain false documents that would either delay their conscription or grant them disabled status, thereby avoiding military service altogether. These actions have consequently led to the expenditure of millions of dollars in bribes to officials across Ukraine during the mobilization period. Arakhamia emphasized that corruption within the institutions responsible for mobilization was pervasive throughout the country.

Individuals who have procured fake certificates will now face legal repercussions, including charges of bribery, document forgery, and evasion of mobilization. Arakhamia also addressed the issue of those who have already traveled abroad using these fraudulent documents, stating that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies now have the ability to seek extradition of these individuals from other countries. He underscored that with the advancement of international cooperation in this regard, these individuals will not be able to evade responsibility for their actions.

Since the outbreak of the full-scale war, there has been a significant increase in the number of individuals being removed from the military register based on decisions made by military medical commissions. President Zelensky highlighted that in some regions, this increase has reached as much as tenfold, which strongly points to the existence of corruption schemes. He emphasized the necessity to review all decisions made by military medical commissions regarding disability and unfitness for service that were issued after February 24, 2022. In light of the exposed corruption schemes within Ukrainian military committees, the president has decided to dismiss the heads of all regional military committees and replace them with military personnel who possess combat operation experience.
