Budanov was skeptical about the possibility of Belarus using nuclear weapons

Russia has transferred nuclear weapons to Belarus, but the chief intelligence officer of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, doubts their actual use. He sees it as part of the “great geopolitical game” and “nuclear deterrence.” Exercises with nuclear simulators showed Belarus’s lack of readiness for such use. However, Belarus has possession of “Point U” and Vladimir Putin intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. This will negatively affect the security of the region and the NATO alliance, the Polish president notes.
