The Armed Forces need a missile for 1,500-2,000 km: the Ministry of Defense explained the reason

The Ukrainian army needs a missile with a range of 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers. Ukraine is currently working on the development of such a weapon. Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov emphasized that the country should have had its own missile program a long time ago, but only recently was an anti-missile program adopted. Reznikov noted that this requires significant investments, but he is sure that it is necessary to improve Ukraine's security. In the past, the country had some air defense systems, but they were insufficient for effective protection. Today, Ukraine relies on partners who provide support in the delivery of such systems as Patriot, NASAMS, SAMP/T, Iris-T and Piorun. However, Reznikov noted that Ukraine does not plan to wage war with its allies, so it does not need missiles with a range of 15,000 kilometers. It is enough to have missiles that can fly to a distance of 1,500-2,000 kilometers to ensure the security of the territory of Ukraine. The Minister of Defense confirmed that Ukraine is already working on the production of such weapons. Asked about the possibility of transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine, he noted that this topic is being discussed, but a decision has not yet been made. Nevertheless, the head of the German CDU, Friedrich Merz, expressed his support for the transfer of Taurus missiles with a limited range to Ukraine, so that they could be used only to protect the country's territory. In general, Ukraine is actively working on improving its defense capabilities, including the development of missiles with a flight range of 1,500-2,000 kilometers. This is an important step to improve the security and protection of the country's territory.
